     Well Known South Side Resident Succumbs to Brief Illness of Pneumonia
     At 4 o'clock this morning occurred the death of Martin Casey, which occurred at his home, No. 181 Gordon avenue, following a brief illness of pneumonia. He was one of this citys' well known and respected residents and the announcement of his demise will be received with regret among his many friends and acquaintances in this community.
     Deceased was sixty years of age and a native and lifelong resident of this city. Surviving are four sons, Daniel, Edward, John and Patrick; three daughters, Mrs. Robert Campbell, of Scranton; Mildred Casey, of Jermyn, and Mrs. Leo McDermott, of Scranton; also three sisters, Mrs. Bernard Crane, Mrs. Joseph Walker and Miss Margaret Casey, all of this city, and one brother, Edward Casey.
     The funeral will take place Monday morning at 8:45 o'clock. After a requiem mass in St. Rose church, burial will be made in St. Rose cemetery.⁴

     Pierce, Catherine, 90, of Long Valley, N.J., formerly of Morris Plains, N.J., died November 9 at the home of her son, Gerald Pierce, in Somerville, Mass., after a short illness. She was the widow of Russell H. Pierce, who died in February 1986.
     Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Thomas and Sara McCann, she lived there until moving to Morris Plains in 1954 where she lived until moving to Long Valley eight years ago.
She was a homemaker and was a member of St. Luke's Church, Long Valley. She was a former member of St. Virgil's Church, Morris Plains, and was a member of the St. Virgil's Friendship Club.
     Surviving in addition to her son are another son, Allan Pierce, Long Valley; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
     She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph; a brother, Gerald McCann; and a sister, Gertrude Clifford.

     Following an illness of two years' duration, Thomas McCann, aged thirty-three years, and one of this city's well known residents, died at his home on Cottage street at 9:30 o'clock yesterday morning.
     Besides his wife, he is survived by the following children, Gertrude, Catherine and John of this city and Michael of Chicago, and one sister Miss Margaret McCann.
     The funeral will take place Wednesday morning. the cortege will leave the house at 9 o'clock and at 9:45 o'clock a requiem mass will be celebrated in St. Rose church.
