     Widely Known and Respected Resident of the South Side Succembed to Brief Illness.
     William Casey, one of the best known and respected residents of the South Side, passed away at this home on Gordon avenue, about 1 o'clock this morning, after an illness of two weeks' duration. Mr. Casey was taken suddenly ill about two weeks ago and his untimely death will be a great surprise and wil be deeply regreted by his legion of friends in this city. He was a man of robust physique and up to the time of his illmess was apparently in the best of health.
     Deceased was born in this city and had always resided here. he was about thirty-four years of age. For several years he conducted a hotel in the South Side section of the city and was very popular among his many firends and acquaintances. He was a stauch advocate of the policies of the Democratic party and for serveral years past took an active interest in elections, particularly at the city elections.
     Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Anna Casey; three borthers, select councilman Thomas and James of this city, and John of Providence, five sisters, Mrs. Kathryn Coffey, of New York city, Mrs. Anthony Barrett, Nellie, Annie and Mary Casey of this city. The funeral will take place Saturday morning. The time will be announced later.¹.¹
